11 March 2012:
I went on a walk again in the Paddler's Cove or Bluff Cove area of Palos Verdes. Besides the big signs warning surfers about recent great white shark sightings, I found more material for my 'beach abstract' series. Here I attempted to find something interesting in the huge piles of kelp that were on the beach. I like the bright orange material sprinkled in amongst the very dark green kelp leaves and pods.

I like the orange bits too. I would be interested to see before/after images in Photoshop to see how much you brought up the contrast/saturation (or how minimal your alterations were).
ReplyDeleteRika - I have placed the 'original' file below the processed file. I did not do much to this image. The biggest change was the crop. For some reason I am thinking square these days, and it helped here by reducing the amount of clutter to a reasonable amount, whatever that means. I darkened the edges, color-balanced the image (that was done in raw, and is already included in the lower image), and then added some glamour glow to add some more contrast and give it a little more character. What do you think?
