Genographic Participant

4 March 2012:

A few weeks back we went to a National Geographic lecture on their Genographic project, started in 2005. They are analyzing patterns in a collection of thousands and thousands of DNA samples from around the world to trace the ancient movements of humans. I decided to add my DNA to the pool. I did my cheek swabs today, and will send it in tomorrow. I will have them analyze the paternal side, and it will likely show that we are descendants of the Sami in Lapland, but we will see. I need to encourage a sister to do this and check out the maternal side to see where that leads. Any volunteers?

  1. Let us know how the results turn out! Maybe we'll find out we're Russian after all. Or Finnish. You should tell Lars too, I bet he'll find this interesting.
