31 March 2012:
Lily made Laksa for dinner tonight. It is an Indonesian curry soup. We all did really enjoy it, including Bruce.

Morning Dew
25 March 2012:
After a nice run in the morning chill of Oceanside, I found a large field full of grass loaded with dew, backlit by the sun. This picture does not do it justice.

One if the images from the photo walk on Oceanside beach this evening. I am continuing to work on a set of abstract-like images from the beach.

30+ knot gusts. Salt spray on glasses and lens. Things were sloshing around a bit out on the pond this morning.

Kelp
11 March 2012:
I went on a walk again in the Paddler's Cove or Bluff Cove area of Palos Verdes. Besides the big signs warning surfers about recent great white shark sightings, I found more material for my 'beach abstract' series. Here I attempted to find something interesting in the huge piles of kelp that were on the beach. I like the bright orange material sprinkled in amongst the very dark green kelp leaves and pods.

4 March 2012
From a photo session at Paddler's Cove, Palos Verdes, on a gorgeous saturday morning.
I have no idea what made this pattern in the rock.

Genographic Participant
4 March 2012:
A few weeks back we went to a National Geographic lecture on their Genographic project, started in 2005. They are analyzing patterns in a collection of thousands and thousands of DNA samples from around the world to trace the ancient movements of humans. I decided to add my DNA to the pool. I did my cheek swabs today, and will send it in tomorrow. I will have them analyze the paternal side, and it will likely show that we are descendants of the Sami in Lapland, but we will see. I need to encourage a sister to do this and check out the maternal side to see where that leads. Any volunteers?
