Two images from a late afternoon walk down to the beach. First we have Lily taking a break in the stands at Clark Field, and second we have a makeshift soccer game on the beach. The two backpacks on the left were the goal posts.

Pepper Palace

The Manhattan Beach Grand Prix was today, and in between my volunteer activities (our bike club sponsors the race) I managed to get in some photography. This is the women's category 1 / 2 field going through turn 4. A member of this team in red, Sarah Fader of the Pepper Palace pro cycling team, did finish in 3rd place. I do not know if this is her, but I caught this rider at the right moment.

At first I thought that she was out of focus, but further inspection shows that the asphalt below is in focus, so I think the fuzziness is just motion blur, even at 1/1000 second shutter speed.

Rika - this team is going to be racing out your way in one week, near Lake Forest north of Chicago. Go have a look!

Fireworks

5 July 2014:

The scene from Palos Verdes, looking northeast towards Carson. The top one is a composite of 12 multiple exposures taken over about a 3 minute time span, the bottom one is half as many exposures. But, what is that in the sky of the bottom image? A meteor? An airplane? I would like to think it was a meteor, but the sky was probably not dark enough to see one.
