When the gardens were initially planted in the 1970's, they put in 1200 rhododendron plants around the property. Early spring is when they bloom. The were amazingly colorful.
Today Lily and I visited VanDusen Botanical Gardens in Vancouver. We discovered their small grove of giant sequoias in one corner of the gardens. These trees are a little over 40 years old, just infants in the lifetime of these trees. They are already quite impressive.
Cherry blossoms are blooming throughout the city, and they really look nice. This set of trees is on the plaza in back of the old train station next to Canada Place, on the Vancouver waterfront.
We walked China Town and Gas Town in Vancouver today, and for lunch we stopped at this small ramen noodle shop that was recommended by a friend. The ramen bowl that Lily ordered was on a par with our favorite LA ramen place.
