Experiment 2

24 February 2013:
More searching for subjects. How about pieces of everyday life with a more abstract view? By the way, I made these crepes all by myself. They are even edible.

Old Town San Diego from Amtrak Surfliner

16 Feb 2013:

We came down to the San Diego area today for some cycling and visiting with friends. Took the train down from Fullerton. Nice way to travel! This was the view of the Old Town San Diego station from the second deck, on our way home. That is Lily's hand in the reflection.

Sand Dune Detail

9 February 2013:
Now this was interesting. I am trying a new Nik software application for black and white images. I found this preset within the application, and it really worked well on this image from the Death Valley sand dunes session on Sunday January 27. I am combining a camera whose design was first released in 1970 with digital technology developed in about 2010, 40 years later.

Wagon Wheel

3 February 2013:

Taken around the 25th or 26th of January in Furnace Creek, this is the hub of a wagon wheel that was part of an outdoor museum. Now that I look at it closer, I am really not sure of its composition.

Mesquite Dunes Footsteps

2 February 2013:

Taken on Sunday, January 27 at the Mesquite Sand Dunes in Death Valley: I was on my way out of the park headed for home, and I stopped one more time at the Mesquite Sand Dunes near Stovepipe Wells. I had wanted to run a few rolls through the Hasselblad sometime on this trip, and this was my chance. The sun was too high for the more classic sand dune shots, but the backside of the dunes still provided some nice low sun angle opportunities. Two days earlier we had been trying to get footprints out of our photographs, but this time I decided to feature them. I spent almost two hours wandering around in this fairly quite corner of the dunes. This image and several others came out quite nice. The Hasselblad still works! This is from roll 655, so a lot of film has gone through that camera.
