Kelp

30 September 2012:
While taking this image yesterday of a small part of a bed of kelp that had washed up on Torrance beach, I got whacked from behind by more kelp that was being pushed in by the surf. Still nursing a strained lower leg today.

Rika and I went for a late afternoon walk down to the pier so that she could enjoy a bit more Southern California sunshine before heading home. I put the lensbaby on, and this little guy in his red shirt caught my eye.

Farmer's market on a Saturday morning finds Lily choosing a watermelon. The numbers on the melons are the price in dollars. She picked a 5. I just had 50 cents worth, and it was good. Note Rika in the background, who is visiting this weekend.

More kids at the beach

Who wouldn't jump for joy with the sun shining and both the air and water temperatures in the low 70's. It was a very nice morning on the beach.

Three Kids in the Surf

Late on Labor day afternoon, while looking for more beach abstracts in Hermosa, I spotted these three kids having way too much fun in the surf.

Catalina Island

2 September 2012:
We were returning from a pool party this Sunday afternoon and drove the long-way 'round the Palos Verdes Peninsula. As we came over the top of the peninsula near San Pedro we were treated with this very nice view of Catalina Island. A tropical storm to the south sprinkled some clouds into the scene. A light fog on the water along with a low sun angle did the rest.
